Sharapova will lead Russia in Fed Cup

Maria-1
MOSCOW: Russia’s national Olympic team manager Vladimir Kamelzon said that World No.2 Maria Sharapova will lead her nation in their opening round match of the Fed Cup against Poland in Krakow on 7th and 8th February.
Four time Fed Cup champions Russia are trying to bounce back from a disappointing 4-0 loss against Australia in their first match of 2014 season.
Kamelzon further said that with the five-time Grand Slam winner Sharapova, they have Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who is ranked 23rd in WTA, four-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova who is ranked 27th and Vita Diatchenko who is 83rd.
While talking to the media, Kamelzon said, ‘Sharapova’s participation is guaranteed, Kuznetsova and Pavlyuchenkova will likely play the doubles. Their participation will give all of them the right to play at the Olympics in Rio. We’ve formed a strong squad and our goal is to win this match.’
