MELBOURNE: Czech tennis player Tomas Berdych ended Rafael Nadal’s winning streak against him in the Australian Open quarter-final, to qualify for the semis of year’s first Grand Slam.
Berdych qualified for the semi-final of Australian Open after ending Nadal’s 17-match winning streak, which is a record losing streak of a one player against another. World No.7 Berdych ended the match in three straight sets 6-2 6-0 7-6(5) to register a victory over the 14-time Grand Slam champion.
After winning his one of the best encounters of his life, Berdych said, ‘I was definitely ready for it, I set up my plan pretty well and stuck with it through the three sets. I was expecting a tough battle but I was ready for everything and that was the difference.’
